About the position

As Farm Manager at Søagergård Regenerativt Jordbrug, you will be a central part of the farm's daily operations. Søagergård Regenerativt Jordbrug is a small-scale diverse regenerative farm, with holistically grazed dairy cows with calves by their side, forest-raised pigs, holistically pastured egg layers, honeybees, fruit trees and berry bushes in silvopasture, as well as a niche vegetable production. We process milk, meat, fruit, vegetables and honey on the farm for direct sales to customers. You will work closely with Marianne and Andy (owners of Søagergård), yet we expect that you will work independently (once trained and induced into our ways of working).

A typical working day will include:

Daily tasks:

  • Supporting and supervising interns (and possibly volunteers) to thrive in their roles
  • Milking cows
  • Feeding, moving and checking health of cows and hens
  • Feeding and checking health of pigs
  • Collecting and sorting of eggs
  • Record keeping
  • Managing plant production in 366m2 polytunnel incl. planning, preparing beds, planting, nurturing and harvesting (spring-summer-early autumn)

Ad hoc tasks (frequency varies depending on tasks):

  • Regular cleaning of mobile henhouse
  • Moving and handling pigs
  • Maintaining fences and irrigation systems
  • Caring for, maintaining and harvesting of silvopasture
  • Caring for and improving fields such as mowing and compost spreading
  • Caring for and maintaining forest and nature areas
  • Preparing of the animals' winter housing and paddocks
  • Supporting new projects such as establishing new silvopasture rows and building/improving infrastructure for animal husbandry

As a Farm Manager, you will also have the opportunity to influence and shape our ways of working, as well as support the continued development of Søagergård and its various enterprises.  

We offer

  • A full-time position with an average of 37 hours per week, though with expectation of fewer hours per week during winter and more hours per week during summer
  • Salary depending on your skills and experience
  • Your own room with kitchenette as well as access to a shared bathroom and communal area (shared with an intern) on the farm

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience with regenerative farming practices, and knows what it takes to make a small
    farm work
  • Has experience with and a great understanding of animals, and wants to work on the animals' terms
  • Can perform the same or similar tasks day after day over longer periods
  • Is hard-working and detail-oriented, with a positive attitude and a good dose of humility
  • Is flexible and able to adapt, as well as keep a cool head under pressure
  • Is ready to go outside their comfort zone and is not defeated by adversity
  • Speaks English as our working language on the farm is English

regenerative farming practices and want to gain practical experience with how these are applied on a small-scale diverse farm? Then maybe it's you we are looking for!

About the position

As Intern/Student at Søagergård Regenerativt Jordbrug, you will be part of the farm's daily operations. Søagergård Regenerativt Jordbrug is a small-scale, diverse regenerative farm, with holistically grazed dairy cows with calves by their side, forest-raised pigs, holistically pastured egg layers, honeybees, fruit trees and berry bushes in a silvopasture, as well as a niche vegetable production. We process milk, meat, fruit, vegetables and honey on the farm for direct sales to customers.

A typical working day will include:

  • Feeding, moving and checking welfare of cows and hens
  • Feeding and checking welfare of pigs
  • Collecting and sorting of eggs
  • Supporting plant production in 366m2 polytunnel incl. preparing beds, planting, nurturing and harvesting (spring-summer-early autumn)
  • Supporting milking of cows (depending on skills and abilities)

As an Intern/Student, you are expected to support all tasks associated with running the farm to ensure you gain a well-rounded thorough understanding of what it requires to make a small-scale farm successful. You will be supported and guided throughout your time with us, by our Farm Manager and by Marianne and Andy (owners of
Søagergård). We expect that you, once trained and inducted into our ways of working, are able to carry out tasks independently, with minimum supervision.

We offer

  • A full-time position with an average of 37 hours per week, though with expectation of fewer hours per week during early spring and late autumn, and more hours per week during summer
  • Your own room with kitchenette as well as access to a shared bathroom and communal area (shared with the Farm Manager) on the farm
  • High-quality produce from the farm to make your own breakfast, lunch and dinner (or prepared meals for dinner, depending on your preference)
  • Up to two weekly communal dinners a week (optional, of course)
  • The opportunity to get a thorough introduction to regenerative agriculture and multiple enterprises incl. dairy production, beef and pork production, egg production and vegetable and fruit production.
  • You can expect 1-2 days off per week, depending on the farm schedule. You will also have a week holiday during your time with us.
  • Potential to become a full-time employee for the right person

About you

You may wish to attend the Regenerative School, with start in February 2025, with Søagergård as\your host farm. However, you may be a student elsewhere (where salary is not required) or you may simply want to be an intern with us without association with a school.
