Real skills: learn to milk cows

This real regenerative farming skills course is suitable for anyone that is interested in learning how to milk the magnificent cow. You could be someone that wants to start their own farm or homestead, or someone that just wants to get closer to nature. 

This is a live, one-to-one course with Andy on the farm in Smørum, where you will learn: 

• How to prepare for milking
• How a milking machine works
• How to prepare the machine for milking
• How to prepare a cow for milking
• How to attach the milking machine cluster to the cow (the trickiest part) - you will get to try this yourself
• Considerations for a milking parlour
• General hygiene and cleaning
• How to treat the milk after milking

If you are new to cows, we recommend starting with the Care for Cows course.

Max one person. Approx. three hours. 

This course will give a good understanding of the complexities of milking. With just one training, you will be a long way towards being able to milk on your own. You will also get an instructional video of how to milk, so you can re-visit it any time.

In our experience, it takes a motivated person around five consecutive days to learn to milk competently. We can offer an extended course, as part of a package after your initial course and our assessment of your skills.
